There are 6 mandatory prep meetings in the Spring Semester, which will be part of each student’s grade.
There is a $1100 fee for the trip. See Fees and Payments for more information.
Transportation for the road trip will be in two 15 passenger vans.
All passengers, luggage, and supplies will need to fit in the two vans.
There will be no additional space available for extraneous bulky items (e.g., guitars)
Accommodations will be tent camping only (sorry no hotels).
Student tents are group tents, so sleeping arrangements will be communal.
The trip is hiking intensive, and students will be expected to hike daily. Each student’s hiking ability will be tested during the Spring semester with multiple preparatory hikes. You don’t have to be an exceptionally good hiker, but must be comfortable walking 2-3 miles on trails each day.
Students will be expected to follow all faculty and chaperone directions and to adhere to all student policies as outlined by Roane State Community College, failure to do so may result in students being sent home from the trip and a failing grade.
